CMES has on-going lecture series covering everything from Modern Turkey to Islam in the West to Middle East politics to Israeli Culture. We also offer several occaisional seminars, as well as ad hoc lectures and evetns.
Our seminar series include:
- Arabic Language Seminar, an occasional seminar delivered in Arabic.
- CMES Middle East Forum, a regular seminar series where prominent scholars lecture on the modern history of the Middle East.
- Contemporary Arab Studies Seminar, an occasional seminar focused on contemporary Arab studies.
- Gibb Lecture Series, an annual series of lectures that focus on Islamic studies and mediaeval history.
- Islam in the West Seminar, a regular seminar focused of the study of Islam in western cultures.
- Israeli Culture and Politics Seminar, an occaisional lecture or reading by Israeli authors or musicians, usually delivered in Hebrew.
- Middle Eastern Language Seminar, an occasional lecture delivered in Arabic, Persian, Turkish or Hebrew.
- Morocco Forum, a regular speaker series which concentrates on contemporary topics, including economic development, regional cooperation, and Maghribi leadership in Arab and African politics.
- Seminar on Modern Turkey, a regular seminar focused on modern Turkey.
- Sohbet-i Osmaniye, an occasional seminar which presents the work of historians of Ottoman history.
- WCFIA/CMES Joint Seminar, a regular seminar focused on current Middle East politics.
