Outreach Center director Paul Beran was appointed to the Global Education Advisory Council on 27 October 2009. The council is run by the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and terms of service are three years. The purpose of the council is to advise the Commissioner and the Board on issues relating to global education in the state of Massachusetts.  "I am honored to be a part of the council and to serve teachers in Massachusetts on global education issues," said Paul. "Middle East region studies has a lot it can contribute and I am glad that the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the wider Harvard community can be a part of this important work."
