The Egypt Forum is a multi-staged education program targeted for K-12 teachers and others engaged with public education on the Middle East region and Islam. It is structured around a multi-disciplinary approach to Middle East studies and serves advanced learners who desire to build on their current interest in the ME region with an intensive focus on ancient and contemporary Egypt.
The inaugural Forum, scheduled for April 2008, provides an unparalleled opportunity to experience first-hand a broad overview of Egyptian politics, literature, history and society. Prior to traveling to Egypt, participants in the program will attend lectures and other educational programs in Cambridge, and will develop a series of goals for how they will apply these travels to their educational work on the Middle East region and Islam. After returning to the US, participants will again meet in Cambridge to debrief and to develop a plan for carrying what they learned into the classroom. The Egypt Forum 2008 is a pilot program, which we hope will take place each year. While participants for this year's Egypt Forum have been finalized, if you are interested in being a part of a future program please be in contact with Paul Beran (pberan@fas.harvard.edu).
