Oil and the Contemporary Globe: A Multi-Regional/Multi-Subject Study

10-14 August 2009
Harvard University Campus
Cambridge, MA

Oil and the Contemporary Globe is an intensive workshop designed to assist educators teaching on or interested in topics related to oil, hydrocarbons or diverse geographical locations. The workshop will examine and discuss oil from a variety of disciplines (politics, economics, geology, geography, history, art and culture). It will serve educators teaching or interested in history, social studies, science, literature and geography.

Oil and the Contemporary Globe takes a unique approach to the topic of oil by examining it from a multi-regional perspective.  In addition to our core regions—the  Middle East, Russia and Eurasia and Latin America—we will also examine oil from an African perspective. The workshop has been co-organized and planned by a committed group of K-12 educators who have worked with the sponsoring centers.  Interested educators should submit an online application.
