The Graduate Film Studies Workshop is starting up again this semester, and all graduate students doing work in or related to film studies are welcome to attend the first meeting, on Tuesday, October 2, at 7pm. The meeting will be in the Nebel Room, Barker Center 359.During this meeting, we will have introductions, address organizational matters, and discuss what direction we would like the workshop to take over the course of the year. We will also discuss a short reading (tba), which will be circulated well before the meeting. This semester, the workshop will meet Oct 2, Nov 6, and Dec 4, possibly with an additional meeting in January. There are a number of exciting visiting filmmakers and scholars coming up, and it promises to be a great semester! If you are interested in attending the workshop, send an email to tobylee@fas.harvard.edu, so that we can have a sense of how many people to expect. Please include a few sentences describing your research interests. For those of you who would like to take the workshop for credit, please register for VES 301, and get in touch with Prof. Eric Rentschler, the faculty advisor, to have your study card signed (erentsch@fas.harvard.edu).
