Time:
12:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Professor Khalaf will lead a master class of four graduate students (MA and PhD) from Harvard and MIT on “Sexuality, Urbanism, Violence and Identity” which will convene in room N050 in the Knafel Building at the Center for Government and International Studies (CGIS).
The four students (historian, anthropologist, urban planner, and student of science, technology, and society), having read a broad selection of Professor Khalaf's oeuvre, will present ten minute statements on some aspects of its relevance to Middle East studies, their own discipline and personal interests. Professor Khalaf will then be invited to respond to each statement for about five minutes. After that, the audience will be invited to participate with their own questions and comments. The aim of this class is to facilitate a meaningful exchange between students and a distinguished senior colleague in the field of Middle Eastern studies.
This is open to the public and we encourage you to attend (though seating is limited). A light lunch will be served.
