Sally Howell is a researcher for the Detroit Arab American Study and Ph. D. Candidate in the Program in American Culture at the University of Michigan, working on a dissertation entitled Global Islam/Local Muslims: Creating Arab and Pan-Ethnic Mosques in Detroit. Howell is producer of Tales from Arab Detroit (1995), curator of A Community between Two Worlds: Arab Americans in Greater Detroit (1995-2000), and a principle investigator of the “Detroit Arab American Study” (2002-2003) and the “Building Islam in Detroit” (ongoing) research and exhibition project.
