Health and Conflict in the Middle East: Educator Workshop at Yale University
Date: Sunday, July 5, 2009
Time: 09:00 AM - 09:00 AM

Violent conflict between states within the region and on the international arena has been a primary cause of poor health outcomes and high mortality for the peoples of the Middle East. Experts from the fields of public health, Middle Eastern studies, and anthropology will share their expertise during this interdisciplinary week of study on health and conflict.

Further, the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to create humanitarian assistance in the region will be explored. Educators will also be exposed to innovative new curriculums that challenge students to think critically about such issues as the Iraqi refugee crisis. The course is designed to allow educators to gain the ability to teach about the way in which conflict is impacting the everyday lives of citizens of the Middle East. The institute will include a day trip to New York. Registration fee for the two-week program is $250, and includes all texts, materials, and more.
