Louis Cristillo earned his Ph.D. in anthropology and education at Teachers College Columbia University in 2004, and is presently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of International and Transcultural Studies. He is the principal investigator of a three-year study funded by the Ford Foundation to explore the impact of schooling on religiosity and civic identity of Muslim teens in NYC public schools. Dr. Cristillo is editing a forthcoming volume on Muslims in New York City. His presentation on the completion of his three year study will be followed by a response from Professor Marcia Hermansen.
