Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl is Omar and Azmeralda Alfi Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law. Khaled Abou El Fadl is one of the leading authorities in Islamic law in the United States and Europe. He works with various human rights organizations, such as Human Rights Watch and the Lawyer's Committee for Human Rights.

He is the author of ten books and over fifty articles on Islamic law and Islam. His most recent books include: The Search for Beauty in Islam: A Conference of the Books; The Great Theft: Wrestling Islam from the Extremists, Islam and the Challenge of Democracy, The Place of Tolerance in Islam, Conference of the Books: The Search for Beauty in Islam, and Speaking in God's Name: Islamic law, Authority and Women
