It's important to note that CMES does not have seminar space available at 38 Kirkland. However, as members of the CGIS complex, we have access to all CGIS rooms, as well as FAS classrooms. Please note, available space is very limited and must be reserved in advance. FAS classrooms are controlled by the Registrar and may not be available during peak times.
Be sure to consider the size and time of your event, your technological needs, and whether your budget allows you the option of renting space. Most lectures and seminars can be arranged through CGIS or FAS classrooms for no cost.
Other options include the Barker Center, the Center for European Studies, the Kennedy School, and the School of Education, though there is often a fee associated. Additionally, the Faculty Club offers very nice space for a fee.
You are expected to be present onsite before (to set up the room, receive catering, greet guests, secure audio/visual needs), during and after the event (primarily to clean up and to leave the room just as it was before your event).
If you require audio visual services fo your event, CGIS has a full-time AV technician in CGIS South S053. Please call 617-495-9807 well in advance of the event for audio-visual assistance in any of the CGIS conference or meeting spaces.
FAS Instructional Media Services provide technical equipment and assistance to FAS classrooms. If your event is not course-related there will be a charge for equipment and technical assistance. Be sure to ontact Media and Technology Services well in advance of the event: 617-495-9460 or mtsequip@fas.harvard.edu.
Students and faculty may request Media/Technology Services directly from CGIS or Instructional Media Services.
