CMES offers a wide array of seminar series, as well as multiple workshops, conferences, and other events each year. Our seminar series cover topics from Islam in the West, to Modern Turkey, to Modern Middle Eastern politics.
Our conferences and workshops are often related to our ongoing research areas. In 2005/2006, we held workshops or conferences on: the socio-political trajectory of Iraq since 1950; science, technology and medicine in the modern middle east; 'Berbers and Others: Shifting Parameters of Ethnicity in the Contemporary Maghrib'; and comparative military occupations of Iraq, Palestine and Chechnya.

CMES has one of the country's most dynamic outreach programs for educators, the media and business communities, and the general public. The Outreach Center offers professional development workshops for teachers; cultural programming for schools; a large library of books, videos, audio, artifacts, and curricula on the Middle East and its religions and cultures; downloadable lessons plans; and public lectures by experts in the field.
